FIND YOUR FIT

AT WESTLAWN.

Where relationships matter. And every child is heard.

WHY CHOOSE WESTLAWN?

Many highly creative, eager gifted students struggle to thrive in a traditional school setting. Some lose their confidence, their sense of purpose and finally, their will to try. Twice-exceptional students experience similar challenges. Whether they are impacted by a specific learning disability, poor executive functioning, slow processing speed, ASD, anxiety, or even intense stubbornness to “do things their way,” they are stuck.

Our unique approach of ability, multi-sensory based, socratic method classes, small class size, and social and emotional support allows students to take risks and thrive in ways they haven not been able to in their previous school environments. In addition, attending a school with students like themselves provides a space for students to find friends, practice social skills with a forgiving student body, and learn to appreciate and accept the quirks of others.

We know the school selection process is unique and deeply personal. So our admission process is designed to help you decide if Westlawn School is the right fit for your child.

We have a Rolling Admissions process, meaning we review applications as they are submitted.

We see your inner awesome!

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

  • Submit an application for your child and a non-refundable $200 application fee. Applications are available online below (i.e., Student Application form). You are welcome to apply at any time. We have a rolling admissions.

  • A child visit is required for all applicants. Applicants spend approximately 1 hour immersed in our academic setting and 30 minutes socializing (lunch or recess). During the visit, parents will meet with the Head of School and tour the campus. Given the nature of the visit, this is an adults-only session.

  • Any applicant who has already attended school, must submit a Request for Records to the current school and all previous schools. Additionally, copies of psycho/educational evaluations and other support services should be submitted. Student records/transcripts should be mailed directly from the child’s school(s) to the Westlawn Office prior to the admissions deadline.

  • After the successful completion of an immersive tour, the Head of School will either (a) conduct an observation of the child in his/her/their current environment or (b) gather current teacher reports and feedback. Parents are asked to send contact information for their child’s current school and teacher to admin@westlawnschool.org. If your child does not currently attend school, please submit the form to someone who knows your child. For example, a dance or art teacher, church, synagogue, or daycare center leader. We recommend having this completed within two weeks of your application submission.

  • Admissions decisions are communicated to parents starting March 1 and continue on a rolling basis as the application process is completed. Enrollment Contracts, accompanied by a $2,000 non-refundable deposit that is credited toward tuition, are due to Westlawn School by the date on your contract to secure your child’s space. We undertake a very deliberate and thoughtful approach when deciding whether to offer an enrollment contract, factoring in all the information gleaned throughout this entire process.
